Two more suspects have been identified in the robbery and murder of a Smoke Shop employee in Augusta on Jan. 11.
One of the suspects, Antwan Herndon, surrendered Sunday to authorities in Burke County, while the other, Terry McClennon, is still being sought by police. Their photos were not released.
Herndon, from Waynesboro, came forward for questioning on Sunday and was later charged in connection with the crime. He is awaiting extradition to Augusta.
The third suspect, Terrance Remon Walker, was arrested on the same day after a police chase into Burke County. Walker, 22, was charged following the pursuit.
The incident began when a 29-year-old Smoke Shop employee, Abdallah Abu Rubeha, was shot in the head after refusing to hand over cash during the robbery, authorities said. He later died at a local hospital.
The robbery led to a vehicle chase on Jan. 11, which ended in a foot pursuit. Walker was caught, but Herndon and McClennon managed to escape. Authorities recovered a handgun believed to be used in the shooting, along with stolen items connected to the robbery.
Walker, who narrowly avoided prison after a violent 2020 car chase, is now facing multiple charges, including armed robbery and homicide, after violating probation and being linked to the recent crime.
