Augusta teen Matthew Morrell was so polite when investigators asked for permission to search his apartment for drugs. Sure, he said. Then he signed a written waiver. Four officers combed through his Forest Hills apartment and found 36 grams of marijuana hidden in a bedroom closet. According to a sheriff’s report, the 1…9-year-old then willingly handed an investigator two glass pipes, a digital scale and a marijuana grinder. The seizures led to Matthew’s arrest Monday for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. The search came after Columbia County cops went to the man’s Augusta apartment to question him in a burglary and Matt answered the door, allowing the smell of burnt marijuana to hit the officers hard. That’s when they called in Richmond County, leading to the search. Matt remains in jail today under $14,500 bond.
