David Dawkins

David Dawkins, paroled just three weeks ago, was shot and killed Thursday morning by Richmond County Deputy Bill Walker in the parking lot of Bransford Town Homes.
Sheriff Ronnie Strength said the officer stopped a vehicle that was reported stolen. Walker fired after the 24-year-old driver fought with him and then pulled a gun.
The investigation has been turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and Walker has been placed on administrative duty, the sheriff said.
Dawkins was paroled Jan. 23 after serving just 17 months of a 5-year sentence for felony theft, according to prison records. He had also served an earlier prison term for car break-ins.
